This chart is meant only as a jumping off point for further study. Not everyone agrees on the exact location and functions of the chakras, although most would agree with the glands and parts of the body associated with the various chakras.
There are many excellent discussions of chakras on the web and in books. Reading these, combined with the investigation of your own experience of the chakras through meditation, observation or participation in energy healing, will help you to develop a familiarity with yourself as an "energetic being".
It is also important to note that it is possible to help bring the chakras into a greater state of health and balance without a lot of knowledge about them. We can learn to work with energy simply as energy, without having to know what it is associated with or means.
